GPRS Concrete Roof Scanning Project - Lakewood, CO

GPRS Concrete Roof Scan for Anomalies - Lakewood, COGround Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. of Denver, CO was recently contacted by a local contractor that needed to locate reinforcement in a concrete slab that was located on the roof of a building in Lakewood, CO. The customer needed to drill several holes so that several anchors could be installed, which would then be used by the building’s window washing service, and they decided to call GPRS prior to drilling. After receiving the call, GPRS was able to promptly arrive at the job site the following day. During the scan, GPRS Project Manager, Ryan Shannon was able to locate rebar, conduit, and post tension cables. After the scan was completed, the customer able to use the scan result to assist them with determining the ideal areas for their drilling locations. Thanks to our quick response time and accurate scan results, the customer was able to keep their project on schedule, and safe. Thanks to GPRS, the customer was able to continue with their project with peace of mind; knowing that they would be able to complete it without any issues.

The use of GPR technology was perfect for this project due to the fact that this job-site was located on the roof of an occupied office building. Compared with x-ray scanning technologies (which emit high levels of radiation), GPR technology does not emit high levels of radiation. Due to the hazards that x-ray scanning technologies present, x-ray scans usually only can only be completed once a project has been halted, and once the property has been evacuated. Of course, not all job-sites can be easily evacuated. Thanks to the use of GPR at this project, we were able to completed this concrete scan during normal business hours.

Additionally, GPR provides results in real time. As we complete a GPR scan, the results of the scan are provided immediately after a scan is completed. With GPR, you do not have to wait for films to develop like you have to do with traditional x-ray. In addition to marking the results of our scans onto the project surface, we can also provide CAD drawings, GPS maps, and other detailed reports based on the needs of your project. Next, compared with x-ray scanning technologies, which require access to both sides a concrete slab, with GPR, we only need access to only one side of the concrete slab. In the hands of the trained professionals at GPRS, the use of GPR at your project will help to keep your project stay on time, and within budget. Ground Penetrating Radar is the new way to x-ray!
