Lakewood, Colorado

Pine Valley Electric of Parker, Colorado When Pine Valley Electric of Parker, Colorado needed core through 3 walls in the Lake Plaza building in Lakewood they called GPRS Denver. Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. of Denver mobilized to the site and was able to scan the areas very quickly. As shown in the picture below a conduit was located in the path of where the coring was to take place. The data was placed right on the concrete so the there was no question about the conduits location when cutting began.

This project was ideal for using ground penetrating radar for two reasons. First there was concern over multiple fish aquariums that were on the other side of the wall to be scanned. Concrete X-ray Radiation would harm the fish and was not a viable option. GPR does not emit any radiation so the aquariums were not disturbed. Secondly, the places that were to be scanned had very limited access. Ceiling tiles had to be removed and in addition to being on a ladder there was only 1ft by 1ft openings to get any equipment through. GPR is great for projects like these due to the mobility of the radar as it is able to scan floors, walls, columns and more.
